Our Instructors
Monitor KoriscoKorisco started his journey in the movement and martial arts world in 2003, as a Taekwondo practitioner. He attained the 1st dan black belt in the year 2008. He later found Capoeira in 2010, and had focused his training in the art ever since. Under the apprenticeship of Mestre Xuxo, Korisco founded Pelo Sinal da Santa Cruz Capoeira group in Singapore.
Korisco believes that the art should be embraced holistically, and the seemingly contradictory philosophies - dance vs martial art, trickery vs objectivity, playfulness vs aggression, can all be embodied within the body, heart and mind of the Capoeirista. |
"What impresses me most about coach Korisco apart from his beautiful moves is his obvious love for the art and sharing it in a very holistic, enjoyable manner. He readily talks about the culture, the thinking, the people of the art and infuses it in the movements, the activities and the music playing. His consistent and genuine encouragements make it welcoming for beginners of various ages and abilities. He is one teacher I feel at home with in exposing myself to a new art form.
Thank you Korisco!"

Estagiário Tempero
Tempero’s passion for Capoeira began in 2000 when he joined the initial interest group in Singapore.
Since then he has trained in the styles of Capoeira Regional, Angola and currently Contemporânea. The further he delved into Capoeira, the more his passion for Brazilian culture grew. This led him to take his first trip to Brazil as a sort of pilgrimage to experience and learn from the source. Aside from Capoeira, he has also been involved with other Brazilian performing art forms like the Samba dance and Samba Batucada (percussion). Tempero is also a swimming instructor/coach by day and has worked with children and teenagers for seventeen years in the expatriate and local community. |
Mestre Xuxo
Mestre Xuxo was born in a small city called Francisco Morato, located in São Paulo, Brazil. At the early age of 2, he started to practice Capoeira with his father, Mestre Sampaio, who is also his master in the art of Capoeira. When he was 17 years old, Mestre Xuxo decided to travel around the world, to grow the Afro-Brazilian culture outside Brazil. Mestre Xuxo founded Pelo Sinal da Santa Cruz Capoeira group in 2007. Today, Mestre Xuxo still travels around the world to bring his experiences in the art of Capoeira to people from all walks of life.
Mestre Xuxo believes that there is a profound perspective to life that can be found within and beyond the movements. Capoeira cannot change the world, but it can change people which in turn contributes to making the world a better place. |
