FAQ
Q: What attire should I wear for Capoeira training?
A: For members with the SSC Capoeira group T-shirt (included in Registration Fee), it is compulsory to put on this T-shirt. For non-members or first timers, feel free to wear any comfortable top (e.g. t-shirt, dri-fit). Long pants are recommended. Training with shoes or barefoot is more a matter of preference. If you are not used to training outdoors, shoes are recommended.
Q: I haven’t done Capoeira before, is it ok for me to join?
A: Unless specified, all our classes are open for all levels and no prior experience is required.
Q: I lack strength/flexibility in certain areas. I am worried that I will fall behind. What should I do?
A: The origin of such concerns, usually stem from self-consciousness, which is a good thing. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is a starting point for improvement. Our coaches will be there for you. In Capoeira, we are not a group or a community. We are a family, and we support one another to grow :)
Q: I have certain injuries. Can I still join?
A: The best thing to do is to first consult your physician. Once your physician agrees that you can participate in (light) physical activities, make sure to highlight this to any one of our coaches.
Q: I cannot decide between Capoeira or other forms of physical training/martial arts. What advice do you have?
A: Most, if not all training is beneficial in one way or another. It depends on what your goals are, and your affinity with the activity. While it’s important to keep an open mind and allow them to gravitate towards what they want at their own will, do keep in mind that they may not have the foresight to see beyond what is presented to them. Do take this conversation up with our instructors as there is no generic response for this. Each individual is different.
